I have begun to nest.
Oh yes, I am one of those girls. I’m type A, I’m a planner, and I blog. All things that bring me to create things like this:
Oh yes, it is a powerpoint presentation of what I want my first apartment to look like.
Does anyone else have moods like this, where they need to plan out and visually see their entire life? I can’t be the only one.
It’s a time in my life where I’m preparing to go to law school (mama Elle Woods would be proud) and preparing to move into a new space, and new life.
As much as I value being able to live at home as I save for law school (my parents have excellent design skills and I know where all the food is in the house), I am practically itching to move out. Truth be told, I’ve been itching to move out since sophomore year of college.
I have already found the kind of car I want (once I get my license–lol I’m 22), joined the local housing Facebook groups, and, of course, have been Pinning away on my Pinterest boards. Now, although it is a work in progress, I can bring you the mood board of my first apartment:
Oh yes, I am this extra. Wait until I actually get to go shopping! If I had to describe some of the ideals of my dream apartment, I would say they would be: bright, upcycled, efficient, antique-meets-trendy, and warm. I want to foster an environment where I can relax and feel, well, at home, where I can feel like myself without having to put on a show. When I was in college I became a big fan of studying at the library or in a classroom, so I’ll probably spend most of my time there, but I want to be able to come home to a pressure-free space.
Ideally I would love to be as waste-free as possible. I’d love a little garden with fresh herbs, fruits, and veggies, and I would absolutely love to start composting and recycling on a more serious level.
Of course, we will have to see what my first year of law school and first apartment will really be like, but why not aim high?
