Just on Twitter the other day I said this:
But ironically, New York finally caught a wave of warm, 60-70 degree weather, which I can’t complain about!
I also couldn’t resist a shopping spree, and I got some new makeup, skincare, a haircut, and some fun spring-y new clothes to change up my routine a little.
Keep reading if you want to see some cute fashion and get a life update from me.
My last fashion and style-themed post featured a friend of mine as the model, and I’m finding that I like being behind the camera more than being in front of it. Even with editing, I’m 100% satisfied with the way I look in these series.
But my dilemma is this: my outfit is just so heckin’ cute! And I feel so heckin’ cute!
This spring I’m really excited to work with more of my friends to push my photography skills and to have fun with creative projects. Some of my half-finished creative projects should also be cleaned up so I have a more organized set of projects and to-dos to carry on with.
Right now, I love my work and I feel really satisfied with my job, but since I’m a temp, I don’t know when my time will be up. I move to Virginia in July and I start law school in August (wow!), so the next few months are going to be an interim, up-in-the-air period.
I threw together some fun pieces that made me feel happy and confident for this look. My purse was gifted to me by Kim of Romanovs Views as part of a blogger’s Secret Santa, my shoes are custom True Gault heels, my blouse and slacks are from H&M (I just got the blouse on sale for $10), and my accessories are a custom, gifted bird ring, a bracelet from Spicy Raspberry Designs, a heart-shaped necklace from my boyfriend, and glasses from Warby Parker.
Something that I love about spring is that it feels like the world is taking a breath of fresh air and new life. It’s a time of renewal, of growth, and of progress.
Side note: my hands are a bit of a mess right now, I’m constantly breaking my nails and chipping the polish from working with a lot of hard paper and files at work. Thank goodness for my Collagen supplements otherwise my nails would be shot!
You can also see that I’ve got a small dark mark on my wrist–that’s a scar from when I had a cyst removed. When I had difficulty moving my wrist a few years ago, my mom thought it was carpal tunnel from texting the boy I was seeing so much! (I’m right handed, so this didn’t make sense to me) Nope! Turns out it was a hereditary condition–from her side of the family, mind you–that was fixed pretty easily. Sadly my dream of being a hand model is gone.
Look how long my legs look! I’ve been a little stressed from work lately, so I haven’t been to the gym as often as I would like, but I’m trying to eat healthier in the meantime. I am an ongoing process of self-care and self-confidence–I want to do right by my body!
Did you know I’m writing a book? I mentioned it in passing quite a while ago, and it’s becoming a very enjoyable pet project. I just finished Chapter 4 and I’m up to 65 pages! I won creative writing awards when I was in high school, and creative writing scholarships is how I helped finance my education. Now I’m just writing for fun with a goal to hit 50,000 words and actually finish it.
Would you want to know what my story is about? Let me know in the comments and I can talk about my work-in-progress book in another post and what inspired it.
And of course, there is this lovely corner of the internet right here with Indierella. I love blogging’s ups and downs, new projects to fuel my creativity and new challenges to learn from. Indierella might change with the seasons, but I don’t plan for it to go anywhere soon!
I might be going places and changing with the times, but Indierella is here to stay.
